What would Cait Ashwood’s mom have to take from her in order to ground her?

This giveaway will run until Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Good luck everyone!***

Fantasy and science fiction have been Cait’s lifeblood since she was too young to stay up and watch the complete episode of Star Trek: Voyager. She has several fandoms that she follows with varying amounts of rabid foaming, but it’s all in good fun most of the time. If Cait had to pick a favorite, The Princess Bride is right at the top, well, at least as of the writing of this bio.

Aside from writing, Ashwood is also a classically trained violinist. Cait has a few students she teaches weekly, and she really enjoys working with them. Ashwood also crochets, plays D&D with friends, and, of course, reads her little heart out. She has a small menagerie she manages with her husband here at home including three dogs, two cats, and six chickens. If you ever get the opportunity to keep chickens, she highly recommends them. They’re a lot more entertaining than you might expect.

Some of her favorite authors include J.R. Ward, R.A. Salvatore, Anne McCaffrey, Tad Williams, Mercedes Lackey, Jean Auel, and Sherwood Smith, to name a few.

Serial Box brings everything that’s awesome about TV (easily digestible episodes, team written, new content every week) to what was already cool about books (well-crafted stories, talented authors, enjoyable anywhere).

Like TV, they release a new episode of their serials every week and serials typically run for seasons of 10-16 weeks. Easy to pick up, episodes are enjoyable on their own but build over the course of the season to tell a bigger story. Each episode is available in ebook and audio and takes about 40 minutes to enjoy.

  1. Enjoyed the interview. It was fun to listen to another author’s process.

And of course having played dungeons and dragons helps, keeping that ‘make believe’ mindset is crucial for creating worlds and evesdropping on your imaginary friends, before you kill them. I use everything in my writing.. I draw on my role-playing experience, my time jumping out of planes in the army, the day to day grind with computers creating feature film visual effects (my day job)… It all rounds out what you write…

Thanks for the interview Leigh. Keep it up. I aspire to find my way onto your show at some point.
