Until Next Time. . . Stay Leighgendary

We have reached the end of 2017 and I, like many people, take a step back to think about some of the good things that happened and the bad things. For me, 2017 was a roller-coaster and I don’t know how to feel about it. We experienced one of the hardest things we have faced as a couple, the miscarriage of our first child. Yet, on the other hand, we experienced some very exciting moments, Abby graduating pharmacy school and us moving to a new city to start a new chapter in our life.

What does this have to do with the blog and podcast? If you remember, when we moved I decided that I needed to take a break from the podcast. With the move to a new place and the start of a new job, I didn’t feel that I could give the podcast 100%. During the past two months, I have really thought hard about what I wanted to do with the blog and podcast.

I am burnt out. For the last two years, I put my all into the blog and podcast and it has gotten to the point where it is no longer fun for me. I do not get excited for the written interviews and book reviews seem like a chore.

Since the beginning of the blog, I have had a full-time job and the blog and podcast were mainly run when I was at home. But with everything that we were going through, plus the blog and podcast, my reading time diminished. This year I read two books. Yep, you read that right, two books.

I want to read more in 2018. I want to read at least one novel a month, if not more. I want to fall back in love with reading. I want to feel the excitement I used to have for reading.

Due to this, I feel that for me, I need to step away from the blog and podcast for a while. I wish I could tell you how long I will step away, but I don’t know. Will we disappear completely? Probably not. We will probably post some reviews throughout the year. I will also be doing some live interviews on the Facebook Page Band Of Dystopian Authors And Fans. The plan, right now, is to do one or two live interviews a month with them. I am still working on the details, but I plan on bringing the same interview format that I did on 30-Minute Author Interviews. I want the interviews to be fun and relaxing for the author and for you, the listener/watcher. Since the interviews will be live, there will be a live chat where you can ask questions in real time. It should be really fun.

Will 30-Minute Author Interviews be back? I don’t know. I feel that there is a sea of author interview podcasts out there and I feel that I cannot compete with them. I don’t know what made mine stand apart from the others. A rule that most podcasters live by is that your audience should feel rewarded for listening to your podcast, they should feel like they got something from each episode. I really struggled trying to figure out what my podcast brought the listeners. I want to do a podcast in the future, but I need to find an idea that I fall in love with.

I do have a few more written interviews that will be going up. Those authors that I scheduled for a podcast episode will now have a written interview. Keep your eyes open for when those release.

Thank you for all of your support over the past two years. Because of you I was able to interview some of the best indie authors, but also some of my favorite traditional published authors. Thank you to all of the authors who sent or sold me autographed copies of your books, that is something that I still plan on collecting. And a big thank you to my wife for her support during all of this. If there is anyone else that I have forgotten, I’m sorry. Thank you. I hope that you will continue to support me as I work on falling back in love with reading and getting that excitement back.

I would like to ask something of you though, it will not cost you a thing. Most podcasters and bloggers do not make enough money to do it full time. They do it for the love of whatever they blog or podcast about. Bloggers and podcasters need one thing from you, shares. If you enjoy a blog or podcast, share it with your friends and family. #KeepBlogsAlive

I hope that everyone has a happy new year! I cannot wait to see what 2018 holds for my personal life and for the blog and/or podcast.
